This Seven-Seater Family SUV Outruns Porsche 911
I still remember the first time I got behind the wheel of the Lucid Air. It didn’t just feel fast; it did it so effortlessly, like the car knew what you wanted before you actually did. Everything about it felt like it belonged in the next decade. And honestly, most automakers still haven’t caught up.
So when Lucid said they were building an SUV, I was curious, but cautious. Could they really bring that same magic to a bigger, heavier vehicle? Then I saw the Gravity Dream Edition. It’s sleek, bold, and surprisingly elegant for something this powerful. And once I learned what it could actually do, that curiosity turned into genuine excitement. Lucid didn’t just make an electric SUV. They made something that might redefine what an electric SUV can be.
Performance

When the first news broke about Lucid’s upcoming Gravity SUV, the headlines were all about the numbers, and to be fair, they’re hard to ignore. Over 1,000 horsepower in the Dream Edition. A quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds. Just to compare it is fast like the new Porsche 911 GTS. That kind of performance from a full-size, three-row SUV is staggering.
Even the base model offers serious speed with around 800 horsepower and a 0–60 time in the mid-three-second range. Still, it’s wild to think this level of performance is packed into something designed to haul kids, groceries, and camping gear. Do we really need a seven-seater that can smoke sports cars at the drag strip? Probably not.
The Interior

This SUV is so much more than just big numbers. Inside, you find real-world functionality built for today’s families. The Gravity seats up to seven adults, with second- and third-row seats that fold completely flat into the floor, offering a huge space for hauling gear and luggage. With up to 120 cubic feet of configurable cargo room, plus a great size frunk that can even accommodate a custom seat.
There are tray tables within reach of both rows, USB ports and outlets are well placed, and even power outlets are available to charge tools or power camping equipment. The interior layout feels flexible and modern, while clever storage and high-end materials create an upscale cabin that is neither fussy nor overly complicated. The Gravity is a seriously capable and configurable family hauler that eats supercars for breakfast.
The Tech

Underneath the sleek exterior, the Gravity is a showcase of engineering innovation and not just speed. At its heart is a 123 kWh battery built on Lucid’s 926-volt architecture, enabling charging speeds of up to 400 kW. It means 200 miles of range added in under 11 minutes. It also supports Tesla’s Supercharger network natively via an NACS port. It is fair to say you can’t really complain about charging capabilities.
With up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range, it offers way more than any of its competitors.
Lucid made sure that the tech is not just about the battery and electric motor. Inside, you’re greeted by a high-tech cabin centered around a curved 34″ 6K OLED display plus a secondary 12.5″ touchscreen, topped off with physical toggle switches. You’ll also find full smartphone integration via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with premium audio and mood-setting ambient lighting across the cabin.
Lucid hasn’t released a list of driver-assistance features for the Gravity yet, but we expect something even better than what the competitors offer today. With all this technology inside, it is clear that Lucid has created something far more advanced than anything on the market.
The Competitors

The Lucid Gravity Dream Edition, with its six-figure price tag nearing $140,000, isn’t going to be your everyday family hauler for Costco sales and soccer practice runs. At this price, it’s targeting a specific type of buyer. Someone who wants supercar performance wrapped in SUV practicality. To put it in perspective, the Rivian R1S Tri-Motor offers similar horsepower and acceleration for around $105,000, which is $30,000 to $40,000 less. For this price difference, you could buy a well-equipped Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, or even a second EV for errands and commuting.
For the same money as the Gravity Dream Edition, you could also shop a Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, a BMW X7 M60i, or even a Range Rover Autobiography, all high-end, performance-driven SUVs, though none fully electric and none offering Lucid’s blend of speed, space, and cutting-edge tech. So, maybe it´s still a good deal.
But why did Lucid create this car?
Simply, because they could. And brands like Lucid should, too. That’s their role in the industry: to push boundaries, challenge assumptions, and build machines that outperform every rival in every category. Just like the Lucid Air shocked the world with its record-breaking range and performance, the Gravity Dream Edition is here to raise the bar in the SUV segment. It’s not about being affordable, it’s about what’s possible.
