George Clooney’s simple rules on set left a lasting impression on Noah Wyle, shaping how he works with others today.

Recently, Noah Wyle shared his thoughts on working with George Clooney and the lessons he learned from him. Those lessons stayed with Wyle, and he still draws on them in his career today.

Noah Wyle rose to fame for his role as Dr. John Carter in the popular NBC television series ER. Many years later, he recently earned recognition again for his performance as a doctor in the award-winning medical drama, The Pitt, which has just concluded its second season. The show is set in a hospital and follows the doctors and staff as they handle emergency cases during their long, intense shifts. It also highlights their day-to-day medical decisions, the constant flow of patients, and how that environment affects the people who work there.

What Noah Wyle said about George Clooney

In a recent episode of Josh Smith’s Great Chat Show, host Josh Smith mentioned how fortunate his guest, Wyle, has been to collaborate with many talented people in the industry and build relationships with them. He then asked, “Is there a teammate that you found in your career who’s shown you what teamwork really means?”

Wyle expressed that he draws inspiration from many people in the industry, but he truly admires George Clooney for being a great team player. Wyle reminisced about the early days of the TV series ER and shared a moment when Clooney brought the cast together and encouraged them to be punctual and be kind to everyone involved in the production, no matter their position. Wyle recalled Clooney saying, “We’re all going to be nice to each other. We’re all going to show up on time, and we’re all going to learn our lines, and we’re all going to take our work seriously, but we’re not going to take ourselves seriously, and we’re going to be nice to everybody”.

Wyle shared that when they were working on the show, everyone was young and lacked experience. They often agreed with everything Clooney said, but it wasn’t until the show wrapped up that he realized the value of his advice by seeing how things worked on other sets. Later, he tried to apply what he learned from Clooney, but noticed that while some people had a good work ethic, it didn’t always match the one they had on ER. He praised Clooney for creating such an environment that influenced his experiences in the industry.

Why do we need positive male role models?

In today’s world, where social media plays a huge role in how we communicate and share information, it’s more important than ever for young people to have positive role models. This is especially true with the rise of the “Manosphere,” which promotes unhealthy ideas about what it means to be a man. These ideas have become so widespread that many men, especially younger ones, may not even be aware that they are embracing them.

True role models are the men who respect others, take their responsibilities seriously, and do good deeds without seeking attention for themselves. These are men who help and support others regardless of their wealth, background, or gender. While these positive influences do exist, they often don’t get as much attention as those who promote negative behaviors. When more people choose to share positive messages and treat everyone with respect, it sets a great example for others. Young men, who already feel the pressure to fit in, when they see positive leadership, whether it’s from their dad, coach, or even a public figure they admire, they learn to emulate that behavior and carry it forward.

Ultimately, by working together to highlight and appreciate the good in others, we can encourage a generation of men who are not only aware of their responsibilities but are also committed to uplifting those around them.
