Zendaya calls him out, Jimmy Kimmel, lists his lies, and we still don’t know what is true about Robert Pattinson.

There are plenty of ways celebrities try to control their public image with carefully worded interviews and the usual PR polish. And then there’s Robert Pattinson, who seems to treat interviews more like improvising exercises. On a recent Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance, he brought that reputation to the forefront and shared some insights with the audience.

His new movie

Pattinson is touring to market his latest project, The Drama, which hits theaters on April 3. He and Zendaya play a couple on the verge of marriage, and the story unfolds in the days leading up to their wedding. Their relationship begins to unravel in unexpected ways, and the film explores questions of trust and identity. It also explores how well two people can really know each other.

The movie blends emotional intimacy with something more unsettling. Some viewers see it as deeply romantic, and others find it uncomfortable or even disturbing. Either way, it gives The Drama a tone that shifts depending on the audience.

Zendaya calls out Robert

During a press tour for their new movie, both Zendaya and Robert Pattinson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live separately. Zendaya had the first interview, and Kimmel joked about their presentation at the Oscars, where Conan O’Brien recently roasted most of Hollywood. He said he was curious which one of them would read the winning nominee because “Robert, and I’m sure you know this, he’s a liar.” She laughed as she described him as someone who just… lies. Not maliciously but casually.

According to Zendaya, at their first meeting Pattinson even told her, “I used to be a pathological liar”. Kimmel reacted with: “If a pathological liar tells you he is a pathological liar. It’s diabolical. It really, really is.

She recalled moments where Pattinson would tell elaborate stories in interviews, only to later admit he made them up because he “didn’t have anything else to say.” According to her, the problem is that those stories tend to follow him because fans remember them and ask him follow-up questions. This set the tone for the next interview with Pattinson.

Jimmy calls out Robert’s biggest lies

When Pattinson arrived at the show with Kimmel, the host jumped straight in and asked about his lies. Kimmel came ready with a list of all the strange claims Pattinson has made over the years and started to ask them one by one to clear the mystery. Pattinson didn’t deflect and laughed as he tried to shrug his way through the chaos.

Kimmel picked a piece of paper and said, “I am going to go through a list of some of your lies.

According to the list, Pattinson claimed he was living under an archway in Venice using trash can lids. Pattinson did not deny it, instead said: ” There was an archway in my house”.

The next item was “You said the only furniture you owned in the house was an inflatable pool raft.” Pattinson said: ” It is 100% true. Two separate houses.”

Kimmel jumped straight to the next item on the list. “You claimed you owned a thousand suits.” Pattinson shrugged that it “could be” true, though even he didn’t seem convinced.

The next was: ” You bought a car from a guy on Craigslist. This turned out to be true and he actually bought the car before the Twilight move.

The list does not end here, and the next item was even crazier. “You claim that you have extraordinarily heavy saliva.” He couldn’t remember waht this story was based on and still insists it might be true, though “lighter now.

Kimmel joked that at that point, he had no idea what to believe anymore, and honestly, neither did Pattinson.

Reactions

In the comment section of these videos, fans were having fun with this. “Jimmy with the receipts!” was a common response. Others pointed out how relatable it felt, “People lie a thousand times a day,” framing it less as deception and more as human nature turned up a notch.

And then there were the fans who seem to love him more for it. “Not Jimmy with the list!!!” captured the chaotic energy of the segment, while another comment summed up the general vibe saying, “I love whatever’s wrong with him.”

Instead of damaging his image, the whole thing seems to have reinforced what people already like about Pattinson. He’s unpredictable, a little unfiltered, true to himself, and not interested in playing the polished Hollywood game.

Why this matters

In an industry built on carefully curated personas, Pattinson’s approach feels almost backwards, and that’s exactly why it works. Whether he’s improvising or just entertaining himself mid-interview, there’s a level of honesty in not taking the whole thing too seriously. But admitting he might not always tell the truth has made him feel more authentic, not less.

It also suggests something bigger is happening around celebrity culture. Audiences are getting better at spotting rehearsed answers and PR-safe soundbites and instead, they’re drawn to personalities who break that mold even if it means embracing a little chaos. Pattinson may not always be reliable in the traditional sense, but he is consistently interesting. And in a profession where attention is everything, that might be the most truthful thing about him.
