Wahlberg took to Instagram to show exactly what his daily eating looks like right now, and it is not the junk-food bulk-up most people would expect.

Actors put their bodies through extensive preparation for their roles. Some lose as much as 30 pounds in just a few months, while others gain significant weight and muscle, looking quite different from their normal selves. Recently, Mark Wahlberg opened up to his fans about bulking up for an upcoming movie, and his eating habits surprised many.

What he said

Mark Wahlberg recently shared a video on Instagram showing what he typically eats these days to gain weight for his next movie. In the video, he walks viewers through the different foods he is enjoying, saying, “I told you, this is how we do it every single day. Eating nonstop, trying to put on weight for the movie.”

He mentions specific foods he is eating, such as Japanese cheesecake-flavored yogurt from Coconut Cult and protein bars. His breakfast also includes scrambled eggs, plain pancakes, sliced salmon, blueberries, and bananas. There are even some supplements, nuts like walnuts and pistachios, and green juice on the table.

He humorously captioned the post: “Putting on weight is fun for a few days.”

This isn’t the first time Wahlberg has shared details about his eating habits. He previously went viral for posting his breakfast routine, which also had people talking. He clearly does not eat like most people, and he isn’t shy about sharing it with his fans.

Wahlberg did not mention which project the weight gain is for, but he does have a movie coming out in April called Balls Up. The film tells the story of two rival employees, one of whom is played by Mark Wahlberg, who cause a huge scandal during the World Cup Final and must find a way out of Brazil alive. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, Molly Shannon, and Benjamin Bratt, among others.

Reactions

As always, people couldn’t resist sharing their thoughts on his video. Coconut Cult, the brand itself wrote under his post, “That might be the biggest breakfast I’ve ever seen anyone eat.” Eating that much food every day is tough on the body, and even brands recognize it is not easy.

Many commenters were joking about wanting a job like that. One wrote, “Getting paid to gain weight? I’d be a gajillionairre.”

Wahlberg has been sharing his workout routines and diet with the public for years, earning his fans’ trust. One of them said, “If Mark says this is how we do it, then that is the way you do it!”

However, eating this way isn’t as easy as it may seem. Many people noted the discomfort that can come when forcing yourself to eat on a strict schedule, as one comment read, “This is so painful for him I can feel it.”

Some people noticed that it wasn’t just about how much food was eaten but also the choices behind it. One commenter appreciated that the actor was taking a healthier approach: “That’s amazing that as an actor you have to commit like this, at least you are doing it healthy.”

Not everyone agreed with this diet, though. One person jokingly said, “Dude has no idea how to put on weight! That should be donuts, cookies, danish, and whole milk.” And this is true. With these foods, gaining weight is easy, but it’s far from healthy. Seeing Wahlberg adopt a healthy approach to gaining weight is indeed impressive.

Why this matters

These days, it seems like everyone is sharing their daily routines online, whether it’s about exercising or their diet. But there is a huge difference between simply showing off a gym selfie and the hard work and dedication that many celebrities put into achieving a specific goal. When some share their journeys, people tend to believe them right away.

Another common misconception is that the only way to gain weight is by eating a lot of unhealthy junk food. While that may work in terms of numbers on a scale, it’s not the only approach. Take Mark Wahlberg; he shows that it’s possible to eat healthy and still gain weight. These two things can go hand in hand, and that is useful information for anyone trying to gain a few pounds for personal reasons.
